I have put this into practice, not exactly writing in my dissertation everyday, but writing about it everyday. A short period of forced writing, where you commit to writing no matter how much you do not feel like working, can often get you over the motivational hump and lead to a productive writing session.

It's most helpful in its suggestions about how to cultivate and organize your thought process by writing.
